The agenda under the spotlight, however, is that the journey in fact has just begun. The entire world around us recognizes India today as one of most impactful nations across the globe. India is not only a nation of overboiled youth or a multi-diversity culture, but a pool of ideas, development, and progress. From being an underdeveloped country to being declared as the Prosperous and Independent Nation by Donald Trump in 2019, India has led quiet a journey so far. India is progressive. India is futuristic. India is Power.

Even though the youth of India feels comfortable allocating such heavy adjectives ahead of the nation’s name, there’s a series of events which has led us here today. As important as it is, to understand and value that journey, it is just as significant to know the path for the future as well. The future of India is deemed to be hopeful. The question is about what needs to be done to get us there.

What got us here won’t get us there!

Any nation’s future and progress is usually accounted towards its government all over the globe however, nations where democracy persists, the public has the power and the youth is educated, the citizens are the sole contributors towards the growth of the country. It is not a lesser known fact that the year 2020 came as a shockwave to the world. With the global pandemic setting in and COVID-19 hitting India massively, the form and faces of the dangers changed as well. India has always been a country where progress never stopped. India has always fought back. However, now is the time to pull our eyes out of our phone screens and face the dangers head-on.

The dangers that are currently staring India in the face are not entirely new or unique yet seem to have a new face on.

The unemployment rate of India increased by 11% in the last six months

The figure mentioned above doesn’t sound like an unrealistic one but for the people who are aware of the population of this nation understand the adversity of this number. The coronavirus pandemic hit India like a tsunami and damaged millions in the process. People are still fighting with the ambiguity regarding their job security, whether they will be able to make the rent next month or not, whether students will be able to graduate next year or not or will there be food on the table tonight?

These problems are a huge danger to the growth of the nation today but to think that there is no solution, or the solution is not being implemented currently would be a lie to live with. The first step towards redemption or damage control has to be awareness. The awareness of the approaching dangers or the difficulties that have become hurdles against our race is the crux of vigilance. Awareness and acceptance are the two pillars of overcoming any situation, no matter how impossible it may seem to come out of the bog of problems.

Entrepreneurship is one such solution. This is the time for the youth of India to wake up and help India prosper. The measures taken by the government of India support and encourage the concept of entrepreneurship. Few such initiatives that emerged in 2020 are — Support Local businesses and Aatmanirbhar Bhaarat (Self-dependent India). Prior to these, an initiative called Start Up India was introduced to encourage the citizens of India to leap into entrepreneurship. Businesses are one of the most self-reliant ways to grow for a nation. Entrepreneurship not only contributes towards the financials such as the GDP or the national income of a country, but also creates employment opportunities for the rest of the population.

Vigilance towards unemployment can lead to being prosperous by initiating entrepreneurship in India.

The most common and persistent threat to India has been the intrusion from the neighboring countries

India is a progressive nation. We have collectively come a long way. However, the one thing that we continue to face a problem with is foreign attacks. Recently, the intrusion of the Chinese troops from the Leh borders has been a huge disruption amongst the citizens and the government of India. It has not been the first time that the intrusion happened however, considering the fact that the nation is currently distressed due to the health emergency, the timing could not have been worse.

This is where vigilance came in, though. The Indian army is considered the fourth most powerful military in the world as per the GlobalFirepower report 2020. The intuitive training that the Indian army goes through is the foremost reason why India has been able to keep its civilians safe for a long time now. The next big thing in question for India is prosperity, though. India spent nearly US $62.71 Billion in the year 2019–20 towards its military needs. As a civilian and a member of the youth of India, I feel proud to see this figure. However, this also makes me realize that there is a lot that can be done as a contributor towards the GDP to enhance the safety of our country as well as the betterment of India’s material standing.

As a citizen, if I can whole-heartedly pledge to boycott foreign products, create employment opportunities, support local businesses, and overall increase my contribution towards the national income, together we can create a revolution.

Vigilance becomes power when the world understands that the youth of India stands together with the military to ensure the country’s prosperity.

A global pandemic is an individual difficulty for a nation that stands on the shoulders of its population

India has lost over 86,000 lives so far due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For a nation that is considered to be people-centric and takes pride in its development being the sole achievement of its population, this number is a catastrophe. Even though we understand the density of the situation, we tend to overlook the bigger picture to get stuck in our own day-to-day routine. India is a powerful economy which is screaming for support currently.

Being able to identify the dangers is the first step to solving the problem. Our financial and material advancement depends vastly in the hands of our people. People are the wealth in a nation like India. There is sheer truth in the belief that vigilance can lead us to prosperity. Having a clear and unbroken watch over the invisible dangers that lurk over the nation is the effort that we as citizens of the country need to act on today.

Indians are a widespread community all over the world. As friendly as we are, we love to welcome people into our homes. We love to admire and adapt cultures as much as possible. India is a home to many homeless individuals who could not find shelter in their own countries. But, is India ready to go further?

I say, if we are ready as the People of India, to keep our eyes open and give back to our motherland as much as possible, we have already won the battle.
